Who we are
Nautilib is a digital logbook for recreational boaters, published by BILKA, SAS, 61 rue de Lyon, 75012 Paris (SIREN 929 707 321), the data controller for the data described below.
Contact for any question about your data: contact@nautilib.com.
The data we process
Your account
- Email address, name, and profile photo if you add one.
- Sign-in method: email and password, Apple or Google. With Apple's "Hide My Email", we only receive a relay address.
- Technical account identifier.
Location
- The GPS track of a trip: position, speed and heading, recorded only during a trip that you start, including when the screen is locked or the app is in the background. On Android, a persistent notification shows this for as long as the trip is in progress. Recording stops when you end the trip.
- Positions you place yourself: the boat's position, fishing spots.
- The location read from a catch photo (EXIF data), if it contains one, to suggest where it was caught. This is read on your device.
What you add
- Boats: name, type, home port, photo.
- Trips: date, times, distance, number of people and crew names, notes, photos.
- Voice notes: the audio recording and its transcription. On iPhone, iPad and Mac, transcription happens on the device: the audio is not sent anywhere to be transcribed.
- How-to guides: text, photos and documents (PDFs, images).
- Maintenance: tasks, due dates and recurrences.
- Budget: amounts, dates, suppliers, categories and photos of receipts.
- Fishing: photos, species, size, weight, estimated value, position and date of the catch.
- Personal API keys: we only keep an encrypted fingerprint of the key, never the key itself.
Technical data
- IP address and technical logs from our hosting providers, for the security and proper running of the service.
- Usage counters for the photo analysis features, to prevent abuse.
We use no audience measurement tools, no advertising trackers and no advertising cookies. The website and the app only use the local storage needed to keep you signed in.
Why, and on what legal basis
This data is used only to make Nautilib work: signing you in, recording and displaying your trips, your map, your how-to guides, your maintenance, your budget and your catches, and sharing them with the people you invite.
Legal basis: performance of the service you request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). For technical logs and abuse prevention: our legitimate interest in securing the service (Article 6(1)(f)).
Who this data is shared with
The people you invite
When you share a boat through an invite link, you choose what the person can do: see your trips or not, record their own, and access all, some or none of the documents. The budget is reserved for the owner. A guest's trips show their name and profile photo to the other people on the boat.
